Initiation

Initiation into Mysteria Mystica Maxima (M∴M∴M∴) is the way in which most individuals join Ordo Templi Orientis. With the initiation rituals, we strive to impart knowledge through the use of symbolism and allegory so that the candidates may better learn whom they really are.

Applying for initiation is a fairly straightforward process. To become an initiate member one has to request an application, fill it out—including the signatures of two sponsors already in the order—and then turn it in. Securing the two sponsorship signatures is usually the most challenging part. The best way to make that happen is to get to know local members at our events.

Upon receiving a completed application, the initiation date will be scheduled and put on the calendar. In other words, you should not wait for initiations to be scheduled before requesting an application.

Before the initiation, we are required to accept payment consisting of an Initiation Fee and National Dues; the former helps pay for the ceremony itself, while the latter is forwarded to the U.S. Grand Lodge to help fund the work of our order. Initiate members are responsible for remaining dues-current after their initial year.
